The Gloucestershire Governors' Association exists to serve the governors and, hence, the schools and children of Gloucestershire. Affiliated schools pay a small annual subscription (used for the running of the GGA); governors from these are able to stand for election to the Executive Committee and a representative of each affiliated school may vote at the AGM. |
Joining the GGA/attending its meetings gives a governor the opportunity:

The next Open Meeting of the LA / Gloucestershire Governors’ Association will be about Empowering GovernanceMonday, 27th February at 7p.m. Against the backdrop of less frequent inspections for good and outstanding schools, and increased monitoring for satisfactory schools, there is a greater imperative now for governing bodies to be well versed in the criteria against which schools are judged. This meeting will provide an opportunity for governors to consider in more depth the key aspects of the new inspection framework and how the framework can be used to support school improvement. A particular focus will be how we self-evaluate and demonstrate the progress that has been made. We will hear about the experience of being inspected under the new framework from a chair of governors and head teacher of a recently inspected school. Finally, we will look at the questions inspectors ask and the questions we should be asking ourselves. The meeting will be held at Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2TP. All, including Heads, bursars and school business managers, welcome. Please let Jennie Leighton (Governor Services, 01452 425846) know if you are going to attend so that we can make suitable arrangements. |
